Spoilerage: Lady in the Water

I'm sorry, but when I am exposed to monumental stupidity before noon, I can't keep it to myself. I'm not going to spoil the ending for you here, but I am going to point you in the direction of the IMDB message boards for Lady in the Water, specifically the SPOILER SPOILER thread.

M. Night, you will get some serious play on this particular blog. For now, all I can say is--dude. DUDE, SERIOUSLY. You said it didn't have a twist, I didn't really care enough to doubt you, and now, should this prove as authentic as it feels, you're officially an epic wanker.

Spawn of Opie we can spare, but did you have to take Paul Giamatti down with you?

UPDATE

So I got suckered by the above faux spoiler, which I shall now reveal with a clear conscience: titular lady turns out to be bad guy, tries to drown child, Giamatti saves, and then wakes up with a fin. A fin, I say!

Which sounds a mite better than what actually happens in the twist-free movie that has been the cause of a great deal of critical flummery over the past weekend.

I....don't even have the energy to get into it. M. Night, you've won. Sort of.

Wait, you saw the movie and didn't like it? Or...?

Because it restored my faith in Shyamalan (finally!) by being what it said it was: a straight-up fairy / folk tale that was well told and beautifully filmed. Okay, maybe some things were a leeetle too convenient, and he always ends up showing too much at the end (see: Signs), but still....! It was good. I liked it.
